Proverbs 11: Growing in Abundance

The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life (Proverbs 11:30)

The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life (Proverbs 11:30)

It has been said that the secret to success is in giving. The irony is that when people are struggling with lack—whether physical, material, or emotional—giving is the last thing on their minds.

Popular wisdom says, “Look out for number one! Get all you can and hang on to it…me…me…me!”
God’s wisdom says, “One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty” (Proverbs 11:24).

These opposing principles rocked my world and got me asking all sorts of questions…

Me: How is it that Bill Gates gives billions away and still gets richer?

God: Give freely and become wealthier, be stingy and lose everything

Me: I’m emotionally exhausted. I feel lost and depleted…what do I do?

God: Refresh others, and you yourself will be refreshed

Me: The company culture at work is toxic! How do I continue working without being corrupted?

God: Bless others and you’ll be abundantly blessed; help others and you’ll be helped

The blessing in giving is the ability to help those around you. Sharing what you have, giving of your time, caring for others, leaves you feeling refreshed and renewed.

Challenge: Commit to sowing at least 1 seed of kindness or generosity today … and don’t hold back!

**I can personally testify that ALL of the above is true but with one addition…Giving of oneself has to be sincere from the HEART and it is returned 10fold..Or least that has been the case in my lifes’ experience. GIVE till it hurts. GIVE even when tired or when it is something you don’t even feeeeeel like doing for someone else. GIVE especially when people (loved ones, friends, strangers…) are in need; but won’t ask. Surprise strangers or loved ones/friends in need anonymously(this in of itself yields an awesome feeling) There are people who are natural givers; and people who are natural takers. Do NOT give with the anticipation of receiving anything in return. Thus when you do receive something back in return it is a wonderful gift. Excellent post , as usual , Sis. Stay UPlifted N blessed

    • Great points!

Giving has to be done freely and sincerely from the heart.

Also true: Do NOT give with the anticipation of receiving anything in return. It’s easy to fall in this trap, expecting a return for ones generosity. These are some life-changing principles right here! Totally against the grain.

So giving has to be learned and developed, just like any muscle, no?
