Proverbs 11: Growing in Abundance

The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life (Proverbs 11:30)

The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life (Proverbs 11:30)

It has been said that the secret to success is in giving. The irony is that when people are struggling with lack—whether physical, material, or emotional—giving is the last thing on their minds.

Popular wisdom says, “Look out for number one! Get all you can and hang on to it…me…me…me!”
God’s wisdom says, “One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty” (Proverbs 11:24).

These opposing principles rocked my world and got me asking all sorts of questions…

Me: How is it that Bill Gates gives billions away and still gets richer?

God: Give freely and become wealthier, be stingy and lose everything

Me: I’m emotionally exhausted. I feel lost and depleted…what do I do?

God: Refresh others, and you yourself will be refreshed

Me: The company culture at work is toxic! How do I continue working without being corrupted?

God: Bless others and you’ll be abundantly blessed; help others and you’ll be helped

The blessing in giving is the ability to help those around you. Sharing what you have, giving of your time, caring for others, leaves you feeling refreshed and renewed.

Challenge: Commit to sowing at least 1 seed of kindness or generosity today … and don’t hold back!
